I know, it's a shame they're not as well known as the other cats. Turns out they're LC too, not NT.
These look like proper, full-on yaks and not Dzo or some other hybrid. Great stuff. How high up were they? I've seen the dzo up to about 4800m, but then the true yak seem to take over. Top, top spotting.
Erm, this isn't a Purple-throated Woodstar is it?
Yep. Liam's got me there. Leave it to the pros...
Looks a little like the rare Red-Cockaded Woodpecker (Picoides borealis), but I'm going for a Dendrocopos Sp. Maybe auriceps (Brown-fronted Woodpecker). Tough to see it clearly enough
Thanks diganta!
Claro! As soon someone nails it down, I'll update it.
I was going to say your's was just like the land, but in the ocean, and a bit prettier, but you beat me to it. And GeoLeo, it's at least as nice as you imagine, you're welcome to pop in and have a play in our field station. We're trying to rebuild our Orchid Garden at the moment too, so if you're after a project...
OK. I just don't know enough about orchids to positively id it. I'll let the experts decide and give it an id when the dust settles. This one is like telling marsh and willow tits apart.
