Geometer Moth

Description:

This is a large dark moth, almost black. Looks like one of the Hyposidra, (Ennominae, Geometridae) but wing outer margins in this case is not wavy but smooth. Wingspan: 75 mm.

Habitat:

Mixed forests mainly of pines, cherry and bamboo. Cool to warm place. Altitude: 1,700 m.

Notes:

This moth had visited our terrace light. This is a rare moth for me as I am seeing it for the first time.
