Spotting

Description:

This wolf spider was being attacked by a red and black wasp or hornet.

Habitat:

Found south FL backyard among green shrimp plant, Bahia grass, and Spanish needles.

Notes:

The wolf spider was clearly trying to get away but the wasp kept after it, eventually pinning the spider down and appearing to inject it. The spider remained motionless while the wasp moved to the front of the spider and seemed to be eating. I'm not sure. The wasp flew away and the spider seemed dead. The whole incident took about five minutes.
