I am still very impressed :)
I didn't use a tripod as I find them a bit too cumbersome to use on flying birds. The lens is a Canon image-stabilized lens, however. I set the lens to IS 2 so that I can pan easier with a flying bird. I also use just the center AF focus point as I've heard the lens will focus faster. The camera itself is set to AI focus so the predictive focus is at work. Still, most of my shots taken at this relatively close range are not in focus and sometimes I flip off the autofocus and focus manually.
Thank you Gordon :)
I can see I have to practice... Did you use a tripod?
ISO 400, f5.6, 1/1250 sec shutter. I was using a 300mm + 1.4x converter. Light reflecting off the snow helped light up the underneath and some fill flash rounded out the lighting.
Beautifully done, Gordon :)
What was your settings if I may ask?
Thanks Jeannette. I spent a lot of time practicing photographing flying birds in 2009.
Amazing capture :)
