White-marked tussock moth

Orgyia leucostigma

Description:

This was really cool see...On a previous visit (3-29-12) I spotted White-marked tussock caterpillars taking over the back side of a Palmetto leaf. There were several caterpillars with slight color variations on the leaf. There were also some opaque cocoons and some that were still being built. The caterpillar could be seen wriggling inside the cocoon. The last shot of the all the opaque cocoons was taken on 4-4-12. Then about a week later (4-12-12) there was an emerged moth!
