Cecropia moth cocoon

Hyalophora cecropia

Description:

I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing the moth in person but now I’ve seen the cocoon. I thought it was a mantid egg case, but a BugGuide expert corrected that misperception.

Habitat:

Sandy Creek Park

Sorry for the late reply - it was in a leafless shrub and I don't know what it was.
