A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Streptopelia decaocto
Dove-gray colour with distinctive collar on neck and touch of black on tail feathers. Medium size. Reddish eye colour.
Rooftop terrace.
These birds were non-existent in the neighbourhood even 7-8 years ago when a single solitary individual was spotted by my friend and fellow PN member. I actually went past her house on my morning walk to see if the news was correct, The next year she said it had found a mate. Last year she posted, on FB, a shot of a happy family come to drink water from the bowl on her terrace...and now, they are coming to my terrace too ..with the spotted doves and other birds. May its tribe increase!

Thank you, Tukup. Seeing this bird in Kolkata ( Calcutta) almost made me miss Delhi a little less...maybe these are " invasive" in Kolkata too...but I don't mind. ,:)
We have the same bird in the Midwestern US. We enjoy them although they are considered "invasive." Nice shot Sukanya.
