Marble leaf beetle

Paropsisterna semifumata

Description:

A small leaf beetle with grey smudges on the sides of the elytra.

Habitat:

This species is known to feed on Callistemon (bottlebrush) and always near streams. There were numerous beetles and larvae found always on branches almost overhanging the stream.

Notes:

The location was determined from an article written by Danial Dobrosak about ten years ago. He disclosed the location and food plant and might be pleased to know that this populatrion of a very geographically restricted species is intact. http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_...
