Common House Martin nests, spotted on the windows and above the front door of the Primary school in Amaliapolis (Mintzela) settlement, Pagasitikos Gulf, Greece.
In Greek we call it SpitoChelidono, wich means swallow (Chelidoni= martin) of the house (spiti)...It's generally a good thing to have a housemartin nest in your house, because it shows you are a nice person, for sharing the same roof with those small passerine birds, who travel thousands of miles to return to their nest and raise their chicks! Lots of people in Greece, place small wooden boards under the nests so the bird dung won't mess the verandas, the tables etc...I'm so glad there's so many nests in my area, it proves people really care :)

This illustrates so well one of the favorite habitats for this bird: in French its common name is hirondelle des fenêtres, window swallow :-)
