Wheel Bug, nymph

Arilus cristatus

Description:

Wheel Bug (a type of Assassin Bug) eating a ladybug. The Wheel Bug is still a nymph, as its coloring shows, but it is nearly adult size. It preferred to eat while hanging upside down.

Habitat:

Spotted on a shrub with glossy leaves and sweet-smelling while flowers with yellow middles (a gardenia bush, I think). About four feet from ground.

Removed from the "Signs of Wildlife" mission, as it doesn't fit the description. That mission is for "the bones, fossils, webs, eggs, tracks, and other signs of wildlife" and not the actual animals themselves. Thanks!

I love the last pic. There's no free lunch in the garden.
