Variegated Fritillary

Description:

Wings, orange, darker near the base and lighter at the margins. Fore and hind wings with marginal dark band and submarginal dark spots. The forewing has a medial cell that is lighter than the surrounding area and is completely bordered by black. Wingspan about 60mm.

Urban garden

Notes:

A fast flier, this butterfly covered a lot of ground before coming back to me so I could photograph it. My first Variegated Fritillary.
