Sycamore Tussock Moth

Description:

Another confusingly named Tiger Moth, the Sycamore Tussock Moth caterpillars feed on Sycamore. They can be identified from their cousins in this genus by their pale coloration with yellowish-orange and white lashes. They also have bright orange or red heads. This caterpillar was found climbing on a milkweed plant (Milkweed Tussock Moth caterpillar can be seen in the background of the first image) directly underneath a sycamore tree.

Habitat:

Garden at Fallingwater. Crawling on a milkweed plant directly under a Sycamore tree.
