Description:

A harbinger of spring. small white fluttery butterfly(weak flight) with upper wings marked with marbled brown spots. Rarely lands for more than a few seconds. Size about 3/4 total wing span. Lays eggs on blackberry buds

Habitat:

clearing in mixed conifer forest

Notes:

I have been trying for 20 years to get a picture of this infuriating butterfly

Glad it helped! These little guys have been flying about for some weeks here, although not in the profusioin of last year's heady Spring weather.

sited in Oregon, west of Eugene, on east side of coast range on March 26, 2015. Thanks for the information!
