Description:

Evergreen shrub or small tree native to the Southeast U.S. Smaller, thicker, waxier-looking leaves than possumhaw. The fruit are an important food for many birds, as well as mammals like armadillos, raccoons and skunks. Yaupon is the only plant native to North America that contains caffeine.
