guava, jambu batu

Psidium sp.

Description:

Native to the Americas tropics, guavas are now cultivated and naturalized throughout the (sub)tropics. Here both unripe (green) and ripe (yellow) fruit are featured. The bark peels and curls off.

Habitat:

This spotting is of a tree growing in a large semi-urban yard & garden.

Notes:

This is an incredibly productive tree. It hangs over our bedroom but the loud crashing of falling ripe fruit no longer startles us.
