Luna Moth

Actias luna

Description:

Nice large Luna Moth found sleeping on the window sill of the main restroom for the main campground, Lake Kegonsa State Park. the width of the wings was about 4 inches. The tips of the wing tails curled around. In looking at the http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/speci... site, I see some of these have blue edging! I am very blessed by this spotting, and thank God for the rare privelege of seeing one.

Habitat:

Lots of white birch trees around, which I guess are good feeding for the catepillars.

Notes:

* The adults do not feed, according to butterfliesAndMoths.org
