Myiozetetes similis
The head of the Megarhynchus pitangua is black with a strong white eyestripe and a concealed yellow crown stripe, they measure 23cm, wings and tail are brown and the throat is white. They feed from insects that capture with its strong black beak.
Humid and dry places, plantations, agricultural areas, they can live in cities where few trees are found.
This Flycatcher is still with the couple and 3 chicks, they stand in a mango tree waiting to be feed with insects that their fathers catch.
Good suggestiong Bayucca, by the way, any good resourse to study Taxonomy? thanks for the information about my spotting ;)
The beak is to small for Megarhynchus pitangua. It is either a Social Flycatcher or the White-ringed Flycatcher, Conopias albovittatus. I tend to Social Flycatcher. It is more common. But you need a clear view of the neck. Social Flycatcher as a small and sometimes tiny gray stripe there, whereas the White-ringed Flycatcher has, guess what, a complete white ring around the neck. I don't know why these birds never show this part!!

Santiago, I'm not sure what you mean; I see your photos, and I see the map to the right showing that this spotting was made Northwest of San Jose. You can always go to the box at the bottom of the page that says "Support" if you need help.
Thanks Ava, I will search more species soon! ;) Costa Rica is full of nature and nice species. Do you know why my Photos are not in the map?
