Common Three-ring

Ypthima sempera chaboras

Description:

Nymphalidae; Satyrinae; Ypthima sempera chaboras Fruhstorfer, 1911. These Common Three-ring butterflies did not give me an opportunity to take an open wing picture which would have made this spotting much better. However, since the common name "Common Three-ring" is based on the number of rings on the underside of one rear wing, I can take some comfort from knowing that the I.D. is correct.

Habitat:

Spotted in foliage at the side of a narrow track. The area is sparsely populated and mostly covered by remnants of tropical forest.
