Description:

This fungi was between 4-8 inches wide. There were several in the area. It is growing on an upright dead white birch.

Habitat:

The area was forested with mostly balsam fir, red spruce, and white birch. There area is mostly shaded with large areas of moss covering standing and fallen trees, and the ground. Climate is maritime.

Notes:

This fungus was found on the school grounds across the driveway from the orchard.
