red crossbill(pair)

Loxia curvirostra

Description:

The bill of the crossbill is designed to pry seeds from conifer cones. The male is orange red and the female greenish yellow

Habitat:

on a feeder in a busy neighborhood, although they normally inhabit mature forests

Notes:

I took pictures a few days ago and hte birds kept spooking at traffic and passersby. I think that the nearby log yard was in operation and thus acted as white noise had them settled
