Lecanora xylophila

Description:

Lecanora xylophila is characterized by a silvery white thallus and usually plenty of apothecia, which can vary in colors red, brown,orange, black and dark purple. (aka Hue Driftwood Rim-lichen).

Habitat:

Spotted on a large driftwood log at Point No Point County Park. This maritime lichen occurs along the Pacific coast from British Columbia to Oregon and from Maine to the Island of Newfoundland. It typically grows on driftwood or on rocks on the beach.
