Haaniella saussurei

Description:

Haaniella saussurei is a Phasmid in the family Heteropterygidae. LIke other species in the genus Haaniella, H. saussurei has large spines on its body that may be green, particularly in males. They also have blue markings under at the joints of their hind legs. Both Males and Females have small wings. Both Males and Females can be very aggressive, when threatened or if you try to touch them, they will raise and flicked their hind legs at you. The hind legs have sharp spines that can cause bruises/cuts. They can also 'vibrate' their wings when threatened. Habitat:

Haaniella saussurei is native to coastal and near coastal areas of Sarawak, Borneo.
