Troglodytes troglodytes
The Eurasian Wren is one of the Europe's smallest birds (not The smallest though), and the only representative of Wren family on the continent. The bird is smaller than a sparrow, of brown appearance, round and sturdy, with short round wings and a short tail - tail is kept cocked most of the time, pointing upward.
Here observed in trees on banks of a river Valserine, before disappearing in leafless dense shrubs beneath. The Valserine is one of the cleanest streams in Jura mountain range, flowing through mixed lowland forest.
I always considered these beauties relatively easy to spot, but a nightmare to photograph; and have discarded tons of pics of my encounters with them. This time I got really lucky - I got the time for 6 shots in rapid succession, and got four good ones out...
