Spotting

Description:

I have never seen a bracket fungus so beautiful and strangely patterned. I am overwhelmed with curiosity. Sadly, the tree was either dead or had already lost its leaves, and I couldn't tell what kind it was.

Habitat:

Mixed forest, Ozark Highlands, 45°F/5°C. Found on a ridge and trail high above town. Growing on the bole of an unknown dead or leafless tree.
