Megalopyge opercularis
Yellow to Beige fuzzy caterpillar. About an inch and a half long..and resembles a fried shrimp.
This caterpillar was spotted in Lafreniere Park in Metairie, LA just before I put my elbow down on the railing to take pictures. I read that it was very poisonous . Close call!
Are you using a mobile device, or are you on a computer? Adding missions is easiest if you have access to a computer. If it is your first time visiting PN on the computer, log in, and click on this spotting. You will be able to follow the link to my mission and join the mission. After joining the mission, you can go back to the spotting, and by your name there should be something like, "Edit spotting." You click on this and in the bottom right-hand corner, it will say missions. Then, you will click on that and scroll until you reach my mission, in which you will click on it, and then save the spotting.
Sorry if I made this more complicated than it really is! Its quite simple after a few runs! I hope this helps!
Interesting in this color! I have a species in dark gray in my collections of photos!
Amazing shots! I have suggested a scientific name for you, and could you please add this to my mission, Moths of the Americas? Thanks!
