The hackberry emperors love me when I've been working in the yard a while - I had 3 on my at the same time the other day, all using there proboscises to lick the salts from my skin - it tickled like crazy! I've had red-spotted purples & american snouts doing the same thing! It's been around 100F here & 80% humidity - really icky!

Karen, you're so funny! Perhaps you're onto something with the sweat. I find more insects when it's hot and humid out. My least favorite weather ever!

Sweat I suspect! I think I am a great source of salts for the local butterflies & bugs!
