Turkey Vulture

Description:

Turkey Vultures appear black from a distance but up close are dark brown with a featherless red head and pale bill. While most of their body and forewing are dark, the undersides of the flight feathers (along the trailing edge and wingtips) are paler, giving a two-toned appearance.

Habitat:

Turkey Vultures nest in caves, hollow trees, or thickets. It inhabits a variety of open and semi-open areas, including subtropical forests, shrublands, pastures, and deserts

Notes:

Turkey Vulture adults are very large. Seen single or in small groups gliding in a circle pattern near the bay. Seen every few days in same areas,easily spotted. Beautiful plumage with huge wings.
