Description:

Bumble Bees are characterised by black and yellow body hairs, often in bands. Some variance in color among the many types of Bumble Bee Species includes Black,Orange or White body hairs.

Habitat:

Bumblebees feed on nectar and gather pollen to feed their young. Bumblebees drink nectar and eat pollen - nothing else, so flowers are needed for feeding. Gardens,orchards and berry brambles,areas of wild or cultivated plants that produce flowers. Flowers are essential to Bumble Bee populations members life cycle for food and nesting material. Hibernation occurs under tree roots and at the base of walls and hedges. The main thing needed for hibernation in natural or man made resource material is dryness,

This Bumble Bee was making spring rounds visiting wildflowers and clover blooms when it landed on our porch rail.
