Grasshopper (nymph molting)

Caelifera

Description:

This nymph has just molted (shed its exoskelton in order to grow). It was hanging from the rib of a chewed leaf.

Habitat:

Wildlife habitat garden with many native plants.

Notes:

I have been finding several of these shed skins in the garden. This is the first spotting of the act of molting. There is an abundance of grasshoppers this year in this part of Texas.
