Oak tree

Quercus robur

Description:

There are different varieties of oak; some are considered better for eating than others. The nuts (acorns) are edible when treated... Soak the ripe nuts in water, changing the water every day (google search for how long you should do this for). When all the tannin has been leached out, put them in the oven to dry them out. This isn't my video (see video) but you can mush them up and drain out the acorn oil and you can powder the acorns and make bread from the 'acorn flour'

I know they used its leaves and fruit, but now you can use it's bark for different kinds of preparations from teas to baths etc to help with skin problems, wounds, frostbites, heavy sweating in the feet and hands, infections caused by fungi, diarrhea, it also helps to threat the throat inflammation (angina), gum and other inflammatory processes in the oral cavity. It can be quite usefull-but you have to use young bark, which you dry, so it turns yellow, when red, it's less useful :)

hi ursula thanks for the comment. I've added it to the mission. how is Quercus robur used for medicinal purposes or can it just be used for food?

Since you can use this "plant" for medicinal purposes you could add it in this mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/2096...
