This moth is one of the smaller that I have encountereed under my street lamp. It measures 1" wide.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 10 weeks into the rainy season.

This is actually one of the tricky ones. It is in the family Erebidae, formerly a part of Noctuidae.
