Hummingbird mostly in the Southwest and Mexico. Found some in the central part of California in summer. Green back and white Tshape in front. Males in will develop a irridescent violet gorget that is longer down both sides of the face. Females have a light throat patch that may have some violet in them.

This one was found in the drier area of the wetlands.

Notes:

This pair had nested early in Febuary. I noticed the bare nest one day and the next there was an egg.

Thank you. Almost any hummingbird nest is hard to find. Someone actually pointed it out to me. Will miss hearing the sound of their buzzing. I visited the area for 4 days and seen about 6 pairs. I got so use to them I could identify when a female or a male were feeding just by their sound. And the male as is warns off any other hummingbird.
