Brotogeris tirica
The basic color of the plumage is green. The bottoms and sides of head, chest and abdomen are of a yellowish green. The back of the head, neck, is a slightly bluish green. The base of the wings is olive-brown. The coverage of the plume base of the wings is a brown and olive outer feathers are of a blue-violet. The beak is brownish, lighter on top. The nozzle are in the base of the nose. Periophthalmic ring is a pale gray. The iris is dark brown with a black pupil. The feet are a similar color to the nozzle, but darker. The tail is long, with feathers of blue-green color. The immature specimens are similar to adults, but with almost all primary green plumage, short tail and beak darker.
It inhabits forests, open areas, parks and gardens.
Like fruits, coconuts of all kinds and also the fruit of the ceiba, which it pierces and steal the seeds in the months from June to August. Nor despise the flowers of suinã (Erythrina velutina), and other flowers, nectar, coconuts of jerivá (Syagrus romanzoffiana), fruits like mangos, jabuticabas (Myrciaria cauliflora), guavas, oranges and papayas, and probably insects and their larvae. It is often found in the feeders and gardens with fruit trees in the cities.

Cindy, I think they are just plain beautiful... You should see them flying in bands of 20 or 30 at the sundown, it is an astonishing view.
What a beauty! I disagree with the common name though. Something this bright and wild can't be plain :)
