Marine Isopod

Pentidotea Sp.

Description:

Small seaweed loving isopods found on the shore of Gardiners Bay. Found living on the rocks and seaweed. Color seems to be variable and dependent on the color of the immediate environment. Two different specimens seen here, green and reddish.

Habitat:

Marine shoreline.

Notes:

No creatures were harmed in these photos. All were alive and well. I am not sure of the specific species. I am having trouble finding if Pentidotea wosnesenskii lives on the East Coast of the US. If so, that is probably what these are but I am not sure. Any help is appreciated!
