Tiger Beetle

Habroscelimorpha dorsalis

Description:

The egg-shell white elytra, coppery-green head and fur covered thorax, along with the fine coppery-green markings, combine to make this beetle really neat looking! These photos really don't do it justice.

Habitat:

Undisturbed beaches and along tidal flats.

Notes:

I have seen this beetle on two separate occasions at the same location, (Treasure Shores Beach Park) and though camouflaged against the sand, is easy enough to spot, yet this beetle was quite flighty and very active making it a challenge to get a photo.
