Coral fungus

Artomyces piperatus

Description:

A densely branched pale grey fungus with each branch ending in a slightly flattened surface surrounded by small finger-like projections. The basal branches were a deeper colour than the rest of the fungus. The whole clump would have been about 30m tall.

Habitat:

growing out of a hollow in a decaying log in a damp shady spot.
