Paroposisterna octomaculata
A very convex beetle with polished black elytra and orange head and scutellum. There are two orange patches extended transversely across the body almost halfway to the apex. This species appears similar to P. 8 maculata from PNG. It is not a surprise that this was found on Horn, near Thursday Island.

I have made a visit to the museum collection today and saw a specimen identical to this named Paropsis octomaculata.
