Haliaeetus leucocephalus
Mississippi River, LaClaire, IA Lock and Dam #14
I find the varied patterns of the immature eagles more favorable to me than the matures. Either way, they are all very beautiful. Considering that I never saw an eagle in this area 25 years ago, we are lucky and grateful to have them in such great numbers now.

Thank you Christy! I've really enjoyed watching them and will probably head back out there again this weekend. I joined the mission and will add these, as well as others to it. Thanks again for your kind words.
Wonderful series!! Young Balds are one of my favorites! You've got some great eagle spottings and I would love you to add them (and all others that apply) to the mission Raptors of North America: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8627...
