Grapevine beetle

Description:

The grapevine beetle is a species of beetle in the family Scarabaeidae (Scarab beetles) that usually measures 2.5 cm for adults. Off-yellow to auburn-red with black spots running along each side.

Habitat:

Attracted to lights in my backyard. Deciduous forest nearby.

Notes:

The adult beetle eats the leaves and fruit of grapevines, both wild and cultivated, although it is not normally a major pest of vineyards.
