Roughly 6-7 millimeters in body length, colored as shown with silvery hairs.
The wasp was eating sweet exudates from leaves, stems, and buds of common sunflower (Helianthus anuus), in a vast open field of degraded shortgrass prairie with yucca, prickly-pear cacti, and scattered elm trees.
