Common snapping turtle

Chelydra serpentina

Description:

Most of them were about 2 1/2 ft by 1 ft. I saw five or six of them and they were olive-brown/tan.

Habitat:

I found them in a river under a bridge in Charleston, South Carolina, USA.

Notes:

The bottom of the river was very muddy and had lots of sticks and debris in and on top of it.
