White-banded Hunter Hawkmoth

Theretra oldenlandiae

Description:

Large moth. Light straw coloured plus a nice shade of brown.

Habitat:

I was watering the plants when this moth came from behind (as if flung) and sheltered under the broad leaves of an Easter lily. I cautiously moved the leaf to see what it was and noticed that its wings were moving so fast that they were a blur. The camera caught the blur too...I got just three shots (cropped and uploaded) when it sort of catapulted out...

Notes:

The moth was resting on the wet soil but its wings kept moving so fast....but t did not fly for a bit...just sat there and kept moving its wings.
