Description:

Asota heliconia is a moth of the Erebidae (Noctuidae) family. It is known from Java to the Solomon Islands and from Taiwan to Queensland, Australia, in many subspecies and forms. The subspecies doryca is restricted to New Guinea and some adjacent islands.

Habitat:

This moth photographed at night on an exterior house wall situated in a large semi-urban yard & garden next to a disturbed remnant patch of forest.
