Acraea terpsicore
Orangish with scattered black dots. The black and white border on the wings makes it eye-catching. This is a smallish butterfly.
Urban residential area. On a garden flower (jasmine) but there are lots of weeds in addition to garden plants in this locality. So host/food plants are aplenty.
Only once in so many years has this species laid eggs on my passionflower vine...it was with mixed emotions that I saw the caterpillars nibble away the buds and flowers along with the leaves. I wish these would come back.
