Stick Insect, Phasmid

Phobaeticus kirbyi

Description:

This is/are nymphs of Phasmid from the species Phobaeticus kirbyi. This one are probably 4th-instar around 15 cm, the adults can grow up to 30 cm in body length and 50 cm including the legs. This was an interesting find, to me at least as when I first took the pics of the green form (Pics #1 & #2) around 9 pm and then on my way back, I passed by the same tree an hour later and saw it again, but this time, it is in brown/greyish colour (Pics #3 & #4). I kept looking around the area to see if I can find the green one but to no avail. So, am wondering, if the green one that I saw first managed to change its colour to grey/brown within an hour?

Habitat:

Tropical forest, endemic to the island of Borneo.
