Striped Lauxaniid fly

Family Lauxaniidae

Description:

A small (8mm body) fly with thorax stripes in pale yellow and brown/red which almost continue through they eyes.. or is that coincidence.

Habitat:

Resting on Ghania gress blade in a local nature reserve.

Notes:

Thanks Lauren Zarate for direction.
This one doesn't quite match the Brisbane Insects species in my estimation - the head on this is too tidy. http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_...

Thanks again Lauren. I was going to check them although my first impression of this one was it's a bit 'long and thin' for Lauxaniids - they always strike me as shortish and 'humped up'.. abdomen short and tucjed under. Pity I don't have a lateral view. I'll check them thoroughly later.

Yours might be in the same genus as this one, if not the same species.
