A small, active Click Beetle that flew readily. About 7 mm in length. The prothorax is red and rounded, some beetles had dark markings on the prothorax and others did not (compare photos 1, 2 and 6). The longitudinal bands on the striated elytra are orange. There were many of these beetles on the low bushes close to the river. They can also click themselves upright when placed on their backs. Family Elateridae.
