Wedge-snouted Skink

Trachylepis acutilabris

Description:

Another one spotted in the same region. This skink is also known as Sharp-lipped Mabuya, and this is a small and delicate lizard. It sports short legs and short snout, and is well camouflaged one with its brown reddish back, whitish belly, pale lateral stripes and a series of black and white dots forming an additional layers of lateral stripes.

Habitat:

Here, seen in Kunene region of Namibia (northwest), in arid acacia tree-and-shrub landscape. The region is still very dry (but still magnificent and rich in wildlife) at the moment, following a three-year dry-spell - and guess what, in Korixas, it's finally raining today.
