Belted Kingfisher

Megaceryle alcyon

Description:

A Belted Kingfisher is a frequent sighting at this pond. I think it's the same male bird that I keep seeing over and over since the summer, or another male that has decided to overwinter here. You can see a pair of Hooded Mergansers swimming in the background of the second picture.

Notes:

Spotted at a wooded detention/retention pond in an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA. This is the same little pond where I've spotted ducks, geese, and beaver signs.
