The Long-nosed Planthopper is a very colourful and beautiful creature which can be frequently seen in the area where I live. Going by the number of spottings in Project Noah and other "citizen scientist" platforms, it seems to be equally common in many other parts of the Philippines. That is the good news! The bad news is that the science surrounding this planthopper is so complicated that entomologists can scarcely agree on a name, as can be seen in https://animaldiversity.org/accounts/Rai........ but the biggest problem for me is that the science surrounding this creature does not accept that it is present in the Philippines. Please see Notes below for the link to AgnesAdiqueTalavera's spotting which really shows how difficult this planthopper is.
Spotted in the farm on Tropical Whiteweed (Ageratum conyzoides Linn.) known in the Philippines by various names in many dialects. In our local dialect, this plant is called Salunay. Plant information - http://stuartxchange.com/Bulak.html
AgnesAdiqueTalavera made a heroic attempt in https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/15....... to clarify the confusion surounding the Long-nosed Planthopper, but eneded up having to call her spotting Dictyophara sp.
